the perfect long weekend...

I just spent the most fun weekend visiting friends in the twin cities. It is so nice to be able to connect with friends you haven't seen in awhile and feel like no time has past. I love you twin cities peeps! Here are some fun photos from the trip:

Converse time at Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis after having oh so much fun the night before at the Groveland Tap and Costello's.

View from the boy's hotel room Sunday night. Gotta love conferences that allow you to stay in swank places for free with a view like this.

Best pizza ever! We went to Punch on Sunday night for the first time. Yes, we used to live in the twin cities but foolishly had never gone. It's authentic Neapolitan pizza and it definitely takes you back to Italia.

And the final photo is the lovely little Amelie-esque surprise I came home to Monday night. I am carting my shopping finds and suitcase up the stairs when I notice out of the corner of my eye that our gnome has moved locations. How curious. I step more into the backyard to find that in our gnome's usual location is something quite else entirely. Really confused but somewhat delighted at the prank. I had my suspicions about the culprit(s) and they were confirmed this morning. I think the boy and I will have to think something up for them in return...

diy desk...

It would seem I am really interested in desks lately, as this is my second post about them this week. But I think this minimalist oak desk from Design*Sponge is uber cute and mod. Although I don't think I am not adventurous enough to attempt this on my own....

If my desk was this colorful and cool, I might not even mind working! Modish Handmade found this cool idea from Brassy Apple.

I recently discovered Koonunga Hill's Shiraz at a girls' night. I was at Star Liquor looking for the usual pretty label but I wasn't having any luck with my $12 price range. I ended up grabbing this shiraz quickly to make my date with the girls. Now I am no wine connoisseur, but I really enjoyed my glass enough to look for this bottle again instead of looking for that cute label.

These solar powered lanterns, highlighted by Apartment Therapy, would be perfect for illuminating the back patio! No extension cords!

going to the chapel...

It seems that every summer I need a dress for the numerous weddings of the season. I call it my "wedding dress." I found this dress in the Anthropologie catalog that arrived in my mailbox yesterday afternoon. I think my mouth dropped agape when I saw it, it's so pretty. Hmmm...maybe I need a trip to the Anthro store this weekend.

light and airy...

I was on Apartment Therapy this morning and saw this lovely little craft project. Normally I think fake flowers look tacky but I think these light and airy crepe paper ones could be kind of cool.

illumination ideas please...

I'd like to replace the ugly 1980s ceiling fan that is in our dining room. I'm not quite sure what I am looking for yet, I was thinking chandelier but a pendant light could also be cool. Please let me know if you see anything cool around Madison or on the net!
